Super Tuesday results coverage

For those interested in the US Presidential Primaries and likely to stay up and watch on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning, CNN Coverage (which most people get, and surely you dont want to wach Fox!) will start at 11pm Tuesday evening with Wolf Blitzer.

Kettering parliamentary selection result

Phil Sawford was selected as the Labour candidate at last night's selection meeting in Kettering.  Sawford won on the first round, with 77 first preferences, out of 82 votes cast.

Rosie Winterton

it is unfortunate that Rosie has come in for so much innuendo lately from Guido, Iain Dale et al.

Brown's serious challengers? Denham, Johnson...

to edge closer to a proper assesment of their chances, it would be interesting to get a feel for the level of support that potential candidates would be able to garner amongst the key constituencies - MPs, CLPs, Trade Unions

The process will also be a key factor.  As the Tories demonstrate, if there is a long contest, and a real platform for the candidates to project themselves to the members, this can be critical for a less well known candidate to come from behind.

media coverage of Labour

we are giving the media huge ammunition of course, like the dying days of Thatcher and Major, but they do love it dont they.  I dont remember the media pack feasting with such violence and consistency as they are doing now with our misfortune.  Is this terminal?  What is to be done.  I am not convinced that Gordon Brown will be treated with any more objectivity, wont they just rip into him too?

Alan Johnson

so what are your thoughts?  Is he a credible 'Stop Gordon' candidate - not that I want to stop Gordon!

Labour A-list?

Should we have a Labour A-list, or is this just a discredited Tory idea.  We have the parliamentary panel of course, and I am instinctively against building into this a political beauty contest to identify an A-list.

Boundary Changes

there was an interesting article in the Times on Monday regarding boundary changes.  Does anyone have more information, e.g. facts and figures, about the impact of the changes - which seats we are definitely likely to win and lose etc as a direct result of the changes?  thanks
